Rice Husk Ash Micro Silica is also used in steel mills for binding of slag over liquid metal and insulation of molten metal in ladle and tundish and in slab caster.
It has very good insulating properties.
For strength:
Adding micro silica to the concrete mix even in low replacement will
dramatically enhance strength of concrete mixes, increasing the
compressive strength by 10-20%.
For water proofing:
Develops excellent water resistance (im-permeability) properties and
is used in waterproofing compounds to give amazing results. It reduces the water penetration by as much as 60%.
Rice Husk Ash is used in steel mills for binding of slag over liquid metal and
insulation of molten metal in ladle and tundish and in slab caster. It has very good insulating properties.
When this Insulating Material spreads as coating over the molten metal (about 1 inch thick blanket on the hot molten metal) in the ladle and tundish, it acts as a very good insulator and the temperature does not come down quickly in the tundish and ladle , and temperature is maintained. Hence there will not be any clogging of the caste line, and will reduce breakdown at the time of casting.
Unlike other refectory fluxes, Rice Husk Ash is in the form of pellets / granules and is dust free which promotes a better working condition for the team on the melt shop floor.
For better concrete in marine environment:
Helps to reduce the chloride ion penetration by as much as 50 % into the structure, thus improving life of the building.
For lower heat of hydration:
Lowers heat of hydration by as much as 30 % and prevents formation of cracks during casting.
The temperature of molten metal in the ladle is around 1650 degrees centigrade (3000 degrees F) and above. When this metal flows from ladle to tundish the temperature drops considerable which may cause breakdown in caster / casting sequence.
